Arrow Sports - How to Get Cubs Playoff Tickets

I’ve been in a great mood recently. With less than 10 games remaining, my beloved Chicago Cubs are in 1st place in the NL Central. Since this is probably the year the Cubs finally win the World Series, I’m eagerly awaiting playoff tickets to go on sale this Sunday. I’m confident of getting the tickets at face value and you can too if you follow the steps below.
Introduction to the Virtual Waiting Room.

Most MLB teams sell tickets via Tickets.com and use what’s called a Virtual Waiting Room for games and events they anticipate a high demand. The Virtual Standing Room is an Internet window that will automatically refresh every 30 seconds and let you know if and when you are placed in the “virtual” line to buy tickets.
Let’s say tickets go on sale at 10am and you visit Cubs.com and click on the link to buy tickets. They don’t let you buy tickets right away, rather they send you to the Virtual Waiting Room which is equivalent to waiting outside just be to picked to get in line to buy tickets. The Virtual Waiting Room picks people at random to be placed in line to buy tickets.
Once you make it through the Virtual Waiting Room (can take anywhere between 30 seconds and a few hours), a new screen appears that lets you choose tickets. At this point you made it into the line, but have to earn a spot at the ticket booth to complete your order.
Here are the steps to beat the system and significantly increase your odds to get your hands on some tickets!>>
The easiest way to do this is with a browser with tab capabilities. The latest versions of Firefox and Internet Explorer both have tabs.
1. 30 minutes before tickets are scheduled to go on sale (when they start allowing people to enter the wait room); either visit your team’s site or Tickets.com and click on the link to purchase tickets. A Virtual Waiting Room (VWR) will appear in a new window, but the URL address will not be visible. Right click on the Virtual Wait Room and bookmark the page.
2. Keep the original VWR screen open and open a new browser. In the new browser, go to your bookmarks and choose the VWR link you just bookmarked. Now the same VWR will appear in a normal browser with the URL address clearly visible.
3. Open new tabs and copy and paste the VWR URL address. Having 30-40 tabs open is a good amount so that your computer will not significantly slow down or cause your computer to freeze. I personally use 4 Firefox browsers with 10 tabs each.
4. Wait until one of your tabs/screens looks likes this:

If you are using tabs, an easy way to notice if any of your screens changed is to look at the titles located on the tabs. When a screen is at a VWR, it will say “Virtual Waiting Room.” If the title says “http://purchase.tickets.com,” you’ve been placed in line.
5. Once the “choose your tickets” screen (see above) appears, close all your other tabs and repeat the whole process with the “choose your tickets” screen. Bookmark the page and copy and paste the URL in multiple tabs. You have to go from screen to screen to try to make a ticket purchase. The reason for this is because you have to earn your spot at the ticket counter after being placed in line. By utilizing multiple screens at this step, it’s like having multiple people trying to gain the ticket seller’s attention.
6. Choose 2 tickets, best available. This is the best way to get the best tickets in the remaining inventory. Do this on all the windows until one of your requests get processed and you are able to complete the transaction.
7. Receive your tickets and enjoy the game!
Tips:>>
  • The Virtual Waiting Room normally allows people to “wait” 30 minutes before tickets go on sale.
  • If any of your tabs stop counting down, they are dead. Close all the dead tabs and open new tabs to replace them.
  • If none of your screens have made it through the VWR after 30 minutes, you may have a dead connection to the Tickets.com servers. Close all of your windows and start again. You do not have to worry about going to the end of the line since Tickets.com’s system chooses people at random.
  • Once you get in, act fast to prevent a server time-out. Choose 2 seats, best available for optimal results.
