Hey all.... here's the project!
My car came with a D2S setup from the factory (possibly Bosch projectors from what I read). Anyways, I wanted more.......
So, I got some FX projectors on ebay and started working in a spare headlight I picked up for doing the rough/proto work.
Stock light looks like this (I'll try to get a better/closer shot of the headlights soon):
Ok.... this is a bit of work on the passenger side.....
right - hopefully you can see the parts I cut off (at least if you compare to the stock FX projector!)
left - hopefully you can see the parts I cut off (at least if you compare to the stock FX projector!)
top - cut off half of the top "tab" so it's flush with the surrounding pieces (as robinlb said in his posts)
you can also see the holes I drilled for mounting at the top
with the bracket on, mounted from the front. You can see the "tab" that has been cut flush with the rest. I am just using 6-32, 2" screws with nuts. These screws also are sized to thread through the 4 existing holes that mount the bowl to the front lens holder!
and here are some shots of the single screw I drilled a hole for at the bottom.
I already have the stock Mazda OEM D2S stuff, so I know I could, at the very least, use this as a regular upgraded projector swap. I'm having some difficulty finding some good/complete instructions for wiring the solenoid to control the high beams. Any advice? Everything I've read is either too technical, or I can't figure out if it applies to my stock wiring converting to this bi-xenon setup.
I'll definitely be posting more as I continue the project.... but here's the start.... enjoy!
